  KAIROUAN
Kairouan is the 4th holiest city in the Islamic world. Beyond its fascinating Islamic history, Kairouan is also well-known for its carpet making.
 
The standard visit includes Oquba mosque, Sidi Saheb Mausoleum, Aghglabite Bassins and a tour of the Medina (UNESCO World Heritage). Oquba mosque is the oldest in North Africa and one of the oldest in the Islamic world. It is open only in the morning to visitors. While the exterior appears austere and devoid of decoration, the interior is much more elaborate and of great interest.
 
Also known as the Mausoleum of Abu Zama El Belaoui, Sidi Saheb Mausoleum houses the tomb of one of the Prophet Mohammed's companions, known as the Barber. It is said that the Barber always carried three hairs from Mohammed's beard.
