  TAMERZA

Chebika and Tamerza are a series of lovely mountain oases.  Waterfalls and ancient clay homes of an abandoned Berber village cling to a hill overlooking some of the most beautiful scenery of the South.  Guests enjoy an unforgettable drive by 4WD along the winding panoramic road.  Marvel at the enormous palm trees growing from cracks in the hard, dry rock.  Fifteen minutes further along the panoramic road, the more adventurous can hike back in the silent tranquillity of Chebika’s gorge and look out over hundreds of kilometers of desert. 

 

The walk itself is not too difficult and (except for an initial climb) it is fairly even ground.  Running shoes, or similar footwear, as well as sun protection is recommended. Usually visited on a half day excursion from Tozeur with Chebika &/or Mides . There is a picturesque 4 star hotel with a breathtaking view on the old village and the oasis.
